Fishbowl Discussion and Networking Event at HEMUS Exhibition

The German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Bulgarien), in cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany, is organizing a German Pavilion within the framework of the HEMUS Exhibition, taking place from June 3 to 6, 2026, at the Plovdiv International Fair. It is the largest and most significant specialized exhibition for military equipment, defence, and security in Bulgaria and is held every two years.

AHK Bulgarien, in partnership with the German Embassy in Sofia, is organizing a Fishbowl Discussion titled “Modern Warfare – Steps towards Defence Readiness” on June 4, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm in Hall 2 (terrace above the German Pavilion). The working language will be English. The discussion will focus on how the European defence industry can position itself in a changing geopolitical landscape; what lessons can be learned from Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine; how the European Union can become more resilient; and how both large and small EU Member States, along with their defence industries, can benefit from closer cooperation in order to jointly achieve “defence readiness”.

Following the discussion, we invite you to join the “Defence Mission: Networking” cocktail at 5:30 pm at the German Pavilion.

Participation in the discussion and the networking cocktail is free but requires prior online registration no later than June 2, 2026.
